Last weekend I was looking forward to update my blog because of a killer weekend that was supposed to happen: 16 mile run at Blacks Beach on Saturday and then the Gran Fondo century on Sunday. The 101 Gran Fondo ride turned into a .101 mile ride due to downpours and lack of wanting to ride soaking wet. Oh well, there's been enough bitching about the weather... so here is how I made up for the missed 100 miles:

On Monday I was supposed to go out on a 100 mile ride with Tatiana (the fastest girl I know in my age group), but my stooopid car decided that it needs a new battery and such, so I had to miss out on that ride. I FINALLY was able to ride with Christiane on Wednesday. We left from her house, did the Elfin Forrest loop, and rode the coast up to Oceanside and back. The one rain cloud followed us all the way up to Oceanside and almost all the way back to La Jolla. I didn't have proper rain attire on Wednesday, and on Saturday I was not even close to wearing the right clothing.

Rachel Gordon so kindly planned a 102 mile route for a group of us (Liz, Lina, Beth, Chris, Terrish, Jim, and I). The ride was a lot of fun...until we began freezing up Mt. Laguna. Lina and I led the way up the mountain, and somehow missed the top. For some... the top may be obvious, but I did warn the group that I get lost leaving my neighborhood! Needless to say, I went up and 6.5 miles down Mt. Laguna before Lina and I realized that we were alone. Going down, the gusts of winds were SO scary, and freezing. I was really regretting not wear pants, gloves, toe warmers, or a jacket. The rest of the ride was easy after Mt. Laguna, mostly going downhill. As Beth said in her blog, each one of us brought something fun and motivating to the group and it was a great ride. My legs surprisingly felt pretty good running after 105 miles on the bike, so I was happy.

My legs, however, did not feel so happy doing Torrey Pines hill repeats on Sunday, but I somehow made it. I'm looking forward to putting a lot more miles on the bike this week and a trip to UTAH this weekend. Liz and I are going to ride/run part of the St. George course with Kathy and Joey, I'm looking forward to it! As for now, my legs are pretty toast so I am just going to ass plant for the rest of the day!

  1. I heard about the mess for GF. We had crazy rain the past few days too, luckily I didn't have a 100 mile bike ride planned. Have fun on your trip to Utah! Take some pictures!
