Waka Waka

Before I get into my post.. I want to congratulate everyone who raced this weekend! Breakaway had a huge showing all around the world! Huge congrats to Kent who finished his first Ironman in France, also to Michelle and Sal who tore it up on the same course! Remmi and Jeanine did awesome at CDA....you guys did wonderful, and I think I am signing up for that race next year! Kebby and the Begganator did great at Buffalo Springs 70.3 and of course all the local people killed it out on the San Diego International Course yesterday.

These past couple of weeks I feel like I have been running into/hearing about motivation issues. I know that for me, before Boise "I was just not feeling it." I was tired of having my ass handed to me week by week on the Wednesday ride and just feeling tired all of the time. A couple of my good friends were feeling pretty down, too. How do I get myself out of the slumps I sometimes fall into? The best way for me to HTFU is to have a great, ass kicking workout.....that I can actually complete. For me, that workout was the Vineman computrainer at Aire. I love doing computrainer workouts there because it is an awesome environment and Jen and Karl are the best. They make you feel comfortable, they support you during the course, and Jen even gets you water/towels if you run out! This computrainer workout was really hard, but I was able to complete it and I did it 6 minutes faster than I actually rode out on race day last year.

Sometimes, I know, that having an awesome workout is out of the question because you don't want to get your ass out there to even train. That is why I'm glad I have my mama. She sends me emails like these on race day which not only crack me up, but they make me want to go fast:

This is the one I got the morning of Boise:

Hi Wooie- Good luck today and call me when you can. I love you and there's a couple of cans of "Whoop Ass" in the hall for you - just in case. I also put one in your drink on the bike. Hope it helps! Love ya, Momma Bird

This one before SDIT:

Good Morning Woozie - Good luck on your race today. Kick ass, take names. No, don't bother taking names, just kick asses!!! There's a can of "Whoop Ass" with your wetsuit and two more by the bike and of course I left two for the run. I love you and call when you're done. Love the Momma Bird.

I suppose I've realized that I don't have to be 100% triathlon ALL the time because, hello, that's creepy and because we all go through ups and downs. If anyone is feeling a little down, let my mama know and she MIGHT be able to deliver you a can or two of "Whoop Ass" the imaginary drink.
