Space Jam

It's 6:35pm and I am in bed for the night. My legs are propped up with pillows underneath them and I am decked out in recovery gear. These last few heavy training weeks are seriously intense! Phyllis has really kicked up my running (thank god - hopefully no 4:54 marathon in Kona) and while I enjoy it, it takes a lot out of me! I had an amazing 14 mile run with Michelle aka Shelly where we ran solid and consistently. Shelly and I run together a lot and we are beginning to get a lot more consistent, especially on the track. Berg always yells at me for not being consistent, so it is awesome to have a running partner like Shelly to pace with. This morning was an 18 mile run at Blacks Beach. Sweet Jesus, that was hard .. but it felt good. Actually, that's a lie. My quads were on fire and I felt like a heffer slumping up the hills, but all in all I finished strong (trying to chase down Shelly).

After Blacks Beach, I had a 2 hr recovery ride, but I had to be in East County at 1 and I didn't think I'd have time to do it with Shelly in Rancho Bernardo. I tried finding excuses to NOT do it because I was - ugh, lazy.. but I realized I just had to stop being a sally bitch ass and just do it. Phyllis agreed to let me do it on the trainer, and that sounded much better than riding outside.

I met up with Liz, Elaine, and 3 of E's friends in East County to go skydiving!!! This was my second time going, but I was still scared shitless. I am fine before, during, and after the jump.. but the plane ride up is HORRIBLE. I hate when the people joke aka pretending to "forget" to harness us in, etc. Right away I told my jump man to not dick around because I wouldn't find it funny. Gotta put them in their place before they start these not funny jokes. This time I actually kept my eyes open so it was a really cool experience and I had a lot of fun. My instructor told me a "secret" and that secret was that our canopy (parachute) had a hole in it. Freakin' awesome!!! I'm pretty sure my response was, "Mama don't like that!" I need to stop calling myself Mama and Mommy to my dogs because it is quite uncomfortable when I say it in public.. to people. Oh well.

Tomorrow I am riding double Great Western Loop with Jim, Becca, and Erin. I'm excited to get back out there and ride this loop.. I haven't done it in so long! It should be a good ride with fun people. Soon I will be riding with Kathy and Kebby since they BOTH QUALIFIED FOR KONA AT LOUISVILLE!!! Holla at your girls!!!!!!!! I am so happy that they qualified because a- I love them and b- they are amazing athletes and totally deserve to race at Kona. They are so strong and have influenced me on my triathlon journey and it's amazing that we all get to race together in October. Yipppppppppeeeeeee!

Alright, well.. it is back to watching Bridezillas. I was in a beautiful wedding on Saturday, but thankfully the bride was totally calm and not zilla-like at all. Maybe I was extra tired at Blacks Beach today because I was dancing my fool face off at the wedding the night before! Gotta love the electric slide.
